Ken Ham: Plagiarist?

Is it possible that Ken Ham got all of his stupid ideas from the bestselling children's book Dinotopia? You be the judge:

Ham's book What Really Happened to the Dinosaurs? includes depictions of dinosaur farming -- now we know where he got the idea:

Bad news for Christians though... Dinotopia proves that the dinosaurs were Jewish!!!

Update: A Twitter comment made me wonder if people are getting the wrong idea about Dinotopia. It is not Creationist sludge, it's actually a cute little fantasy book that tells the story of a 19th century explorer's discovery of a mysterious island where dinosaurs never went extinct and live side-by-side with humans. That premise, though, is really just an excuse for some truly gorgeous and shimmeringly imaginative artwork. It's a beautiful and fun book, and no more anti-science than, say, Harry Potter is.

  1. The picture of Velociraptorsteinberg is excellent. Also, I love that T-Rex is so obviously drawn to scale and accurately represented as the quiet back yard domestic animal that they were known to be. And why does he look all old and saggy?

However, the real question is -- did the family put that solid wood fence up to keep that cute little dog out, or to keep the gigantic carnivorous theropod dinosaur in?

    Hmm...

  2. I assumed he was being used as some kind of livestock, whether for meat or perhaps as a beast of burden. He may not actually be a T-Rex, perhaps some smaller, more docile dino?

The old-and-saggy-ness? No idea. I thought that was weird too... But then again, I am pretty sure Ken Ham is batshit crazy.

  3. So I take it he's not a paleontologist...?

There are no distinguishing markings on the back yard dino, which is what made me think he was just an incredibly small T-Rex. He's not bird-like, he's bipedal, he doesn't appear to have any horns or spikes like triceratops or stegosaurus. No shell, either. He just looks sort of... tranquilized

It's possible he's a megalosaurus but we'll never really know for sure. The guy probably just drew some generic dinosaur. He looks like some cartoon creature or other non-human character from a famous film but I can't figure out which one. Maybe Jar Jar Binks?

I found this picture. It's adorable.

  5. I was actually doing a Google image search on "dinosaurs" and I think it was on the second results page.

    Check this one out.
